Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver suburbs lead this index because they combine all the right factors: newer homes, mild Pacific winters (lower heating degree days), and higher household incomes. Communities in Northern BC and the Interior score lowest — exactly where fossil fuel dependence and driving distances are greatest, meaning the communities that need electrification most are least ready for it.
